We went to Klyde Warren Park on a Tuesday morning, which is when they have their imagination playground and children's story time. We ended up parking at the Dallas Museum of Art for $10 (which is across the street from the park) because all of the street parking was full. The McKinney Avenue Trolley drops off directly at the park, so if you have access to the trolley that would be your best bet, since it's free!
We played at the imagination playground for a little bit, but it was better suited for older kids.
The imagination playground is basically giant blocks that kids use to engineer a playground of their own. It's really neat and the kids were really into it. We stayed there until it was story time.
Story time was fun. They passed out "drum sticks," an egg shaker, and scarves to keep the kids engaged. They sang songs and read stories. Story time is set up so the kids don't really have a chance to become restless, since there are so many opportunities to move around. There was also a wide range of ages there.
After story time we ventured to the actual playground/splash pad. Mia was not impressed with the splash pad and immediately turned around and walked away.
Mike was able to get her to at least stick her hand into the water on our way to the food trucks.
I got some tacos from Abe's Flavor Flave food truck, it was pretty tasty. And honestly the thing Mia liked the most about the park was chasing the birds...
Splash Pad
My best friend and I took Mia to go check out the Farmers Branch Aquatics Center and it was really nice. Mia was free and it was $8 for non-residents ($5 for residents). We went in the evening and it was not crowded at all.
They had a children's area, a lazy river, a swimming pool, and 2 water slides. Mia was unsure of the place at first, but seemed to warm up...once the place was about to close, HA!
We hung out in the children's area for the most part, but I definitely had to go down the slide before we left!
This was an added bonus for the summer. The Dallas Arboretum does August dollar days, so we took advantage of the discounted prices. Phew, it was hot, but we got to visit the Children's Adventure Garden for the first time. We went with my brother and his family. We were there for about 2.5 hours and that was not enough time to see everything. This place was awesome and we plan on going back in the Fall.

Addison's Parks
We did not explore any new Addison Parks (we will do this in the Fall), but we did visit their dog park and one of our favorites, Les Lacs Linear Park. This place is a hidden gem, we used to walk here all the time when we lived in Addison. It has a great walking path around the water that is stroller friendly.
We usually park at the playground off of Beltway (across from the Addison Athletic Center) and walk to Les Lacs Park. The playground is being renovated right now, but should be back up and running in September.
Mia really enjoyed seeing the ducks/turtles and put up quite a fight getting back into the car.
Library Story time
Some of my most fond memories of me growing up were feeding the ducks and going to the library to get books/play with the puzzles with my mom. I want to expose Mia to actual books and hope that she has a love for reading. Dallas has a great public library system and we are lucky to have access to it. If you live in Dallas, check out their website to see if there is a story time near you...it's free (well you already paid your taxes) and air conditioned!
Summer has been fun so far, but I am anxiously awaiting Fall! I can already taste the pumpkin. I hope everyone enjoyed their summer and I wish everyone the best of luck with this new school year!
