Believe it or not, I am trying to get this blog caught back up. I recapped 2016 and 2017 in this blog post. I recapped 2018 in this blog post. I recapped January - March 2019 in this blog post. I recapped April 2019 (the month we added a new baby girl to our family) in this blog post. Now I will recap the rest of 2019 in this blog post.
May - December 2019 Recap: So this post has A LOT of pictures. We were BUSY this year.
Adjusting to life with two kids was easier than adjusting to life as a new mom for sure! I feel like the transition of becoming a new mom is very drastic, but adding another kid you don't have all of those initial doubts and you know what is and is not normal. For example, when it came to cluster feeding at night time. As a new mom, I would be worried...is she getting enough milk...is she not latching correctly...is she starving...I'm not doing it right! With Zoe, I was like...give me my pillow, some water and the remote, we'll be posted up for the next hour or so...you guys are on your own! Ha! I definitely binge watched Schitt's Creek while on maternity leave during cluster feeds.
SUCH a proud big sister!
Mia had her first dance recital, such a cutie! ๐
Mother's Day 2019. We hosted since Zoe was so little and our family hadn't seen some of our most recent renovations.
1 month - Zoe was SO strong so early on.
She's also her sister's twin for sure!
Don't let this picture fool you, Zoe refused bottles just like her big sister. ๐
2 months - Zoe is socially smiling and laughing. She lights up every time she sees her big sister. Hanging out on mommy's chest is still her favorite place to be. And if the rolls don't give it away, this girl can eat.
We called this her poop chair. ๐๐ฉ
With Mia, I stayed cooped up for the first 3 months, since it was the dead of winter, but with Zoe I took advantage of this time with my girls and we did ALL OF THE THINGS.
Mia was in dance, swim, piano and gymnastics. Since I was a "SAHM" for 12 weeks, we took advantage of the opportunity (since most of it was in the morning and the middle of the day)!
I still can't believe Mia held a snake!
Zoe got to meet her new BFFs (Amber and Connie's babies)
Mia lived her BEST life during my maternity leave.
Sadly, my maternity leave came to an end...and I had to go back to work in July. This was my first day back to work. I would pump on the way to work. ๐
June 2019 marked my 10 year anniversary at Children's Health as a Pediatric Registered Nurse.
Independence Day. We watched the fireworks from a distance and that's definitely me covering Zoe's ears.
3 months - Zoe is such a happy baby and full of smiles. She was getting a tad better with the bottle which helped my mom guilt while I was at work. Thankfully, my job was flexible with me and I was able to work some from home when I wasn't in clinic or the operating room.
This was actually at a hotel we went to when our power went out.
Summer 2019. We have an awesome local waterpark that we hit up several times over the summer. It's also where Mia had her swimming lessons.
Visiting Grandpa J and Grandma Baby
Mia's friend's birthday party at the ice rink.
4 months - Zoe rolls both ways. She talks all of the time (loudly) to make sure she's also heard (already competing with big sister). She loves her hands/feet and is teething.
So...this happened...Mia started Kindergarten!! I am fairly certain this is why I went gung ho during maternity leave to DO ALL OF THE THINGS because I knew my time with Mia at home (we pulled her from pre-K to stay home with us earlier in the year) was coming to an end and I wanted to get as much time as I could with her. There were no tears on the first day of kindergarten, we were all brave and she had a great first day!
5 months - Zoe is all legs and she knows how to use them! She's rocking and is getting ready to take off! No one can make her laugh like Mia can. She adores her big sister and the feeling is mutual. ๐
Mia was a busy bee! She joined Girl Scouts and the school year was in full swing. She was in dual language where half of the day was in English and the other half was in Spanish.
Girl Scouts kickoff at the Flight Frontier Museum.
Fall neighborhood block party
Her school's Fall Festival
Her friend's birthday party at the local rose garden, SUCH an amazing party!
The Firehouse Theater did Frozen and Mia got to meet Olaf. Such talented kids!
Day camping trip with Girl Scouts.
Her first field trip to a pumpkin patch.
6 months - We started solids and Zoe is a big fan! She also started crawling and has already moved along to pulling herself up to stand in her crib. She is a giggle box and brings so much joy to our family.
Sweet potatoes were a hit!
My job does an event called "Paint the Town Red" for milestone anniversaries and this was the first year I was able to attend to celebrate my 10 year anniversary. It was at the Dallas Cowboy stadium. It was SUCH a fun night with my work family and friends.
Fall 2019. Mia's dance recital.
Trach or Treat. Airway nurse all the way through. Ha!
We said goodbye to our program manager, Scott, he moved on to another role.
50th day of school.
Character Day.
Halloween 2019
Cutest bat and pumpkin!
Harry Potter Party.
7 months - Zoe is officially a busy body. She's into everything. She loves food. She has 2 teeth. She's starting to babble more and has begun growling at her sister. She might spend too much time with the dog. ๐
We of course had to go see Frozen II at the movies! Don't get me wrong, Frozen II was GOOD, but I didn't realize how intense it would be (think water horse scene), especially for a five year old. I'll just say there was a lot of hand holding during the movie, but we still really enjoyed it.
Thanksgiving 2019
8 months - The sister bond is really strong between these sweet girls. Such a proud mama!
Local tree lightning.
Mia's kindergarten Christmas Party.
Santa pictures and Christmas Eve Candlelight service.
Christmas Eve.
Christmas 2019
Playing with Christmas presents.
If you made it this far, I'm impressed!! Thank you for reading along! 2020...here we come...๐
