7-month update

Mia is 7 months old!
She has been fussy all day, so I'm surprised I got these!
Some outtakes...
I made this last month, I love how it shows how much she has grown:

Here is what Mia has been up to these days...

Her 7-month stats: no doctor visit until she is 9 months old

Eating
Mia is breastfed and nurses every 2-3 hours during the day

Mia just wants breast milk, she has not been a big fan of solids.  We have tried pureed food, food in her teething feeder, and large pieces of steamed food (baby led weaning).

We do not want her to get any negative associations with eating, so we have not forced food on to her.  We are taking it at her pace.  We will keep offering food in hopes that she will eventually get a hang of things.  This past week, she has done really well with eating, but I don't want to jinx us, fingers crossed it sticks!

Foods she has eaten
Sweet potatoes (pureed, in her teething feeder, and large chunks)
Pears (pureed)
Oatmeal
Butternut squash (pureed)
Bananas (in the teething feeder and large chunks)
Plums (in the teething feeder and large chunks)
Apple puffs
Cheerios

Sleeping
Ugh, Mia goes from sleeping like a rock star to not sleeping well at all.  I think she is legit cutting teeth and has been waking up at night uncomfortable.  We have been using several homeopathic remedies to help ease the pain, I'm thinking I should just do an entire post on what has and hasn't worked for us...

Favorite activities
  • Chewing on tags, she LOVES tags!
  • Climbing on people
  • Yelling/babbling
  • Gnawing on her Sophie teethers (or anything readily available)
  • Jumping in her jumper
  • Watching Grace and Yogi (our dogs)
  • Bath-time and splashing around
Not so favorite things
  • The bulb syringe
  • Motrin (she hates the strong berry flavor)
  • The car seat (she is getting better; we bought her a pad to try to keep her cool while she is in it)
  • Being covered while breastfeeding (she is either too hot, gets distracted by the cover, or tries to pull it off)
Milestones this month
  • She is crawling (she started with scooting, to rocking, to army crawling, to yoga poses/planking, to crawling)
  • She pulls to stand
  • She cruises on furniture
  • She climbs on people
  • She goes from sitting up to her belly and back to sitting up
  • She pets the dogs once she reaches them
  • She still only says "Mama" and "mmmm"
  • She rakes her cheerios and is working on her pincer grasp
  • She responds to her own name
  • She reaches her hands out when she wants to be picked up
Personality
Phew, this girl is on. the. move!  She is crawling around like it's her job!  She has no fear and is so stinking determined.  If she sees something she wants, she will go and get it.  If you take said object away, her short temper shows!  She wants to explore everything.  As always, her independence has shown with eating solids, she prefers the methods (her teething feeder and chunks of food) that she has control over.

Pictures
This month went by in the blink of an eye.  Our A/C went on the fritz and then we lost our power in the storm (you can read about that here).  Mia just went with the flow of things and played.  She is amazing and such a blessing.  She can always put things into perspective, this month had several frustrating aspects to it, but this little lady remained joyous the whole time.  She had her mommy and daddy and that was all that mattered.  When it's all said and done, that's all that matters, right?

Any who that paragraph was to explain why there are not many pictures this month...

Fast asleep at grandma's house
So mischievous
Her curls are getting out of control...
Her new favorite "toy" and her new friend (the baby)
Gah, she's so precious!
The first time she pulled up and the night we realized we needed to lower the crib
Getting the hang of eating!
She is serious about eating her cheerios
Yogi takes cleaning up the cheerios seriously
