Just breathe, Mama bird: April and May 2016 Recap

After this blog post, we'll be all caught up! Hopefully I can stay caught up this time! So, let's jump right into April (my birthday month!).

April

We started the month with Caden's birthday party. This picture just looks like trouble! Caden is my best friend's brother's son (got that?!). I have know my best friend and her brother since I was in kindergarten, so he's pretty much family and I'm so glad that our children get to grow up together!

April also meant that tax season was amongst us and that I had procrastinated until the very end to get it all done. This was the first year that we had our typical W-2s as well as two small businesses, so it was a headache to say the least. This is the mess Mia made while I did taxes...have at it kid, mommy's busy!

April also meant that I turned 29 this year! Mike and I went to the movies to watch My Big, Fat Greek Wedding 2. It was hilarious and kind of made me sad for Mia to grow up, time is going by so fast! Mia had fun at grandma's house while we were out celebrating. My mom said she found a sleeping bag and just camped out.

Our family has several April birthdays, so we also celebrated my oldest niece's birthday. Mia now knows what a birthday party is and knows there will be cake, so she was pretty excited when I told her we had a birthday party to go to.

We thankfully had a pretty mellow April, since March was such a beating! Here are some more pictures from the month.

May

May was a fun month! Mother's Day was pretty sweet. I slept in and then we had brunch at home with mimosas. Mia got ~~herself~~ me a balloon and Mike got me some beautiful Orchids that were the prettiest color I've ever seen!

With our spare room now empty, we decided to use it as an office, so we bravely set out to get some stuff from Ikea. Mia loved the place...Mike was a really good sport! Haha! He hates that place and I don't really blame him. Spoiler alert, I ended up with a pink chair!

My new office was my anniversary gift and I LOVE how it turned out! A big thanks to my husband for putting everything together! We celebrated 5 years of marriage this year! We want to start giving the traditional gifts that coincide with the year, check out the list here. 5 years of marriage is wood, that's why he got me a desk and I got him a wooden vape.

We also celebrated Nurse's week in May. This is my 7th year as a nurse! Our team leader put together all the cute themed days for the week. She's amazingly creative and always showers us with gifts and love! Nurse's week is almost like Christmas and funny enough Christmas was one of the themes!

Funny side story- So for super hero day, Trish made shirts for us that said "suction" (instead of Boom, Pow, etc) since we are Pulmonary nurses...and we suction patients a lot. So Mike texts me one night while I was at work. He was putting away the laundry and asked me why I had a glitter shirt that says suction on it?! HAHA! I'm sure that was a pretty confusing discovery while folding laundry!

My nieces came over one evening so that my SIL could go to a conference. We had four little girls running around the house and it was quite a circus. Mike and I felt outnumbered and really had to tag team to get through the night, ha! We're good with just the one for now! However, it was a lot of fun, and Mia had a blast playing with her cousins....except when she realized she would have to share her toys. ; )

Some of my coworkers and I went out for some much needed time out of the house! I had A LOT of fun and I'll probably be recovered to do it again in about....a year! ; )

Trouble

So this picture deserves an explanation. This girl smeared the contents of her food packet all. in. her. hair! I saw that she had squeezed it out onto her tray and I thought she just wanted to feel the texture...and then when I looked back I saw this! This girl is a mess! HAHA!
