5-month update

Mia is 5 months old!

This is the first month that she has really interacted with the elephant, so stinking cute!

Here is what Mia has been up to these days...

Her 5-month stats: no doctor visit this month

Eating
Mia is breastfed and eats every 2-3 hours during the day.  She is getting better with the bottle, but still gives her daddy a hard time when I go to work on the weekends.

Sleeping
She falls asleep sometime around 10-11 pm and has been sleeping 6-8 hours.  She is still just an okay napper.

Bedtime routine

Our nighttime routine includes a bath, a quick massage with lotion, and one last feed before being put down for the night.

Favorite activities
  • Rolling around
  • Talking
  • Being outside
  • Gnawing on her Sophie teethers (or anything readily available)
  • Jumping in her jumper (that she is finally big enough for!)
  • Grabbing anything in arms reach (she loves to touch everything)
  • Bath-time (she is fascinated with water)
Not so favorite things
  • The bulb syringe
  • The car seat (still!)
  • Being covered while breastfeeding (she is either too hot, gets distracted by the cover, or tries to pull it off)
Milestones
  • Rolling over from back to tummy and tummy to back
  • Doing a double roll from back to tummy to back (almost off the bed!)
  • Getting up on her knees while on her tummy
  • She has started sticking her tongue out and spitting
  • She sucks on her toes and loves to play with her feet
  • She now looks for her toys when she drops them
  • Cooing/talking/yelling/squealing/laughing
  • She is teething and gnaws on everything (such a drool monster these days)
Personality
Mia has become quite the character.  She is very expressive and we can tell she is going to be a handful (in a good way).  Mia is very smart and is meeting a lot of her milestones early.  I kind of wish she would slow down, I do not want her to grow up too fast.  I also do not think we are ready for her to be mobile, HA!  She is still as happy as can be and is always smiling.

She is finally big enough to jump in her jumper (without the help of textbooks under her)!
We have started putting her in her high chair while we eat to get her used to sitting with the family at meal times

Nap-time in the Mei tai

Mike sent me this while I was at work, she is way too grown in this pic
Her Aunt Samirah is the only person who can get her to smile in her car seat
Trying to eat the phone

She rolls onto her belly a lot lately, I guess she does not mind tummy time now
She is getting so long!
This was the first time she rolled onto her belly
She holds her hands together while she nurses and will usually fall asleep with them together
She is going to start crawling before we know it!
