Our Summer bucket list

Ready or not, summer is here!

I'll be honest, I am not fond of summer. If you could not tell by my skin tone (read: pale), I am not a big fan of the sun! Or heat, or humidity and especially not mosquitoes.

Regardless, I wanted to create this summer bucket list, so that we don't stay holed up in the air conditioned house the next few months. There's nothing like crossing something off a to-do list, so this will hopefully motivate me to get out into the summer heat.
  1. Go pick blueberries (I will have to blog about this soon!)
  2. Go to a splash pad
  3. Explore Addison's various parks
    • We have always lived near Addison and love visiting their parks. However, I had no idea they had fifteen parks! I would like to go explore the parks we have not been to yet. Depending on the heat this may have to wait until Fall.
  4. Go to the farmer's market
    • They have Evening in the Shed on Thursdays with live music from 4 - 9 pm
  5. Swim in an actual swimming pool (Mia has only swam in a kiddie pool so far)
  6. Go to Klyde Warren Park
  7. Eat from a food truck
  8. Go to the dog park
    • We enjoy the one in Addison off of Midway and the NorthBark dog park off of the Tollway and George Bush
  9. Go to the library for story time
  10. See some fireworks
    • We went to a firework stand on July 4th that let you set the fireworks off on the grounds, it was crazy and we saw a ton of fireworks. Mia was scared at first, but she warmed up to them. We went there to get some sparklers for her and we ended up waiting 1 hour in line. It was a learning experience for sure! It was in far south Dallas, so on our way back home, we passed through downtown Dallas. The Reunion Tower had U.S.A. on it, the Omni and the other buildings were lit up in red, white, and blue, and we saw several awesome firework shows while driving through the city. Our city is beautiful! Any who, once we got home we found out that Mia was scared of sparklers...womp womp.
This article has other ideas for summer activities in DFW.

What about you guys? Do you have a summer bucket list? Any other suggestions for things to do around DFW?

P.S. Here are some pictures from my friend Misty's wedding. The wedding was how we kicked off summer! It was the first wedding Mia had ever been to and she had a blast! She loved all of the people and attention she received. She even made a friend, a little girl who was about her same age. Apparently they were so excited to meet each other that they kissed, ha, so cute!

Happy summer and I hope you all had a safe and fun July 4th!

  1. Great list! Hope ya'll are able to accomplish all of the items on the list. Klyde Warren has food trucks almost everyday, and also a dog park (Very small). Check the schedule online. Truck Yard is also a good place for food trucks. Try to go on a weekday, or during the "off times" during the weekend. Can't wait to hear about all of your adventures!
