I cannot believe Mia is already 3 months! It is crazy how time flies, but I am excited to see her grow and develop new skills.
I
want to start doing these every month, but since I skipped the first two months, I will just post the pictures of
those months:
Her 3-month stats:
Eating
Mia
is breastfed and still eats every 2-3 hours during the day and cluster feeds
right before bedtime. We introduced the bottle
(with breast milk) to her when she was 3 weeks old, but she has never really
been a big fan of the bottle. Mia eats
like a champ and has always done so since birth.
Sleeping
She
falls asleep sometime around the 9-11 pm timeframe and will usually sleep 5-6 hours. The longest she has slept is 8 hours for
daddy (once) and 7 hours for mommy (a few times). She starts in the swing and when she wakes up
in the middle of the night I bring her into bed with us to breastfeed her until
she wakes up for the morning. We are
trying to transition her out of our bed.
Favorite activities
- Staring at the ceiling fan
- Watching her mobile
- Playing on her play mat
- Going on walks and being outside
- Being in her Mei tai wrap
- Watching her doggies up close
Not so favorite things
- Tummy time (she has rolled over on her back twice during tummy time to show us that she was not going to participate any longer!)
- The bulb syringe
- Pacifiers (she refuses them and prefers her hands)
- The car seat
- Rolling over from tummy to back (out of spite, HA!)
- Laughing OUT LOUD (I definitely teared up the first time I heard her laugh)
- “Standing” while in someone’s lap with help
- GREAT head control
- Holds onto toys
- Sat in her stroller for the first time (like a big girl-without the car seat adapter)
- Always smiling
- Noticing her feet
- Bats at toys that are in front of her
- Holds head and chest up while on tummy
- Babbling (much more lately)
- She is teething and has her hands in her mouth constantly
Personality
Mia is a happy, smiley girl. She is also
extremely curious and attentive to her surroundings. She wants to see everything and wants to
constantly be on the move! My mom said
that she is a lot like me when I was a baby.
My husband says that she is also stubborn, just like her mama. It looks like we are going to have our hands
full!
Mommy going back to
work
I
went back to work this past weekend, which was hard on all of us. I cried on the way to work and called
constantly to check on her. Thankfully,
I was able to return to work part-time, which equates to (2) 12-hour shifts
from 7pm to 730am. I will be working
Friday and Saturdays, so my husband will be with her while I am at work.
Mia
and my husband had a really rough first night.
She cried for an hour and a half, absolutely refusing the bottle. I called during this time and seriously
considered quitting and going home to my baby.
A little extreme, I know, but it was breaking my heart! Around 11pm, she finally succumbed to the
bottle and fell asleep. Poor girl and my
poor husband. He handled the situation
really well and I am so proud of him.
The
second night was much better. My husband
went to his parent’s house, they helped him with her, and he was able to take a
nap. She took the bottle much better and
slept 8 hours for him! I am sure she had
worn herself out!
